Bike Mike World turned 17 years old. He started with a small 2 page webpage on July 1st, 1995.
The main thing on this website is about Big Mike being involved with the Multiple Sclerosis 100 mile and 170 mile bike tour that he rides in every year. There is a story on Mike riding for Multiple Sclerosis and some short info/story on Multiple Sclerosis Society. The Multiple Sclerosis New Jersey Metro Chapter now runs two well known MS bike tours here in New Jersey. The "Coast the Coast" MS-25/50/85/170 mile bike tour that runs in the month of May. Then you have the "The Great New Jersey Country Bike Ride" MS-20/50/100 mile bike tour in the month of September. MS Mid-Jersey Chapter and the MS Greater North Jersey Chapter merged October 1, 2008. To form the New Jersey Metro Chapter. This newly formed New Jersey Chapter also does a MS Walk in the month of April and "Hops to Hops" ride in early September.
Their are Multiple Sclerosis pages up from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and from Delaware. Local Multiple Sclerosis links for information, volunteers and trying out MS bike tour that each chapter in New Jersey and in neighboring states does.

 March 16, 2013 ..... Holy Cow indeed! Bike Mike cycling in the "Coast the Coast" since 1993 and have not skipped a year. Awesome indeed!! Mike cycled them all in this tour. Thunderstorms, windy weather, chilly weather, hot weather, detours and wipeouts in the tour. Mike even broke his personal record for the amount he raised in May 2012 for Multiple Sclerosis. Also, Mike will be recording with his GoPro camera this May 2013 "Coast the Coast" tour. Mike is so happy that he been cycling in the MS "Coast the Coast" for 20 years.
May 9 2,103 . . Mike suppose to do a email interview for the local Belleville times paper. Instead of a email interview. It turned into a Special Guest Columist. To see the online paper write up. Follow this link HERE.

Mike is currently working on a 20th year poster for the start line. Going to make it so cool for the bike tour.
Mike just got his package for the bike tour. All info needed for the bike tour. His number is #21. The lowest in a long time. The lowest Mike ever had was #12 years ago.
May 16, 2013 . . Donation Update Time > > > Mike will not be able to reach his goal of $5,000 as predicted. He was sure he was going to reach it. Here is the breakdown. One friend of a group thought I asked to late. But told them back in April. They been busy and can not donate now. Said they will in 2014. 2nd one is a town club and still no word from them. They was donating. 3rd one is a well known Belleville company. They stayed in touch. But in the last minute. They can not donate. Tey have not donated anyplace. I have to wait to a meeting thursday night if donation is approved.
Mike is only $135.00 from hitting $4,000. Would be cool to hit $5,000. Oh well!!!

(Oct. 16, 2010) . . . September 2010 marked Mike's 20th year cycling and helping raise money for Multiple Sclerosis. What a way to mark 20 years? Mike cycled 100 miles in the well known "Great New Jersey Country Bike MS Ride" on September 25 and 26, 2010. Wanna read all past and present stories from newspaper to his own stories. (September 4, 2008) . . . Big Mike and his friend John made the New Jersey Section of the New Jersey Star Ledger newspaper on July 25, 2008. It included a huge photo of him and his great friend John. A wonderful story by Star Ledger Reporter Elizabeth Moore.
John and Big Mike made Eagle Scout rank on June 22, 2008. It is a special scout troop. Both John and Mike are very happy. Yes....it did take a very long time. It was hard. It was really worth it.

15th Anniversary"
(July 1, 2010) . . . Mike started a 2 page webpage back in July of 1995 on what use to be Prodigy Classic. Anyone remember Prodigy Classic? Then the webpage name changed. Was allowed to add stuff like photos, music and links as time gone on. The storage for members got bigger. Can add more photos and more pages to "Big Mike's Airwaves" webpages. Went from "Big Mike's Airwave" . . "Big Mike Jr's World" . . "Big Mike's World" . . then to the current website name and it stuck like glue ever since . . "Bike Mike World". The Website image also has changed.
More stories with some photos will be coming during the month of July.

(November 4, 2010) . . . Because of the amount of money raised for the 2010 "Great NJ Country Bike Ride". He wanted to say thanks to a couple of people. Irwin Folk Foundation, Applegate Farm, Chandelier, Nutley Shoprite, Nicolette Body Shop, Algeri's Pizza, Casandra's Pizza, FMBA 29, Motorcycle Mall, Lil Burger, few friends from CoffeeCup.com, few of Mike's friends and family members. "Bike Mike 20th Year Riding
2013 Coast the Coast"
May 9, 2013 . . . Mike will be cycling in the "Coast the Coast" MS 170 on May 18 and 19, 2013 for his 20th year. Mike has rode in the "Coast the Coast" since 1993 and did not skip any years.
Mike got his bicycle cleaned up. Brought his bicycle to the bike shop on April 3rd for a tune up. Getting a new black handlebar tape and a new chain. Said the bike would be ready April 12. The chain did not come in for a few more days later. Bike was not ready to April 18th. Could not get it yet. Buddy Scott would help me get it on April 22nd. Then I had to go to a family funeral April 23rd to the 25th. Tested the bike on April 26th and 27th. The bike did not feel right. It the chain and gear. Brought the bike back to the shop in the afternoon of April 27th. Found out they overlooked this. The front derailer middle ring was no good. Bike ready early afternoon pf May 1st. Scott and I went to the bike shop May 2nd. Tested the bike at bike shop parking lot. Just enough tension to check out the gear shifting. No problem after awhile. Brought bike home. I went to pedal on the bike. Tried to go on my druise speed or full throttle on the pedal. The chain started to skip. If you stand behind the bike. From left to right. From the 4th ring and all the ring to the right of it. It skips! Not a good thing with this bike this spring.
As you can see here. Mike has not train much. It was in the shop most of April.Not cool at all. Mike will be aching for sure for his 20th year in the Coast the Coast tour.
A new problem with Mike's bike. The bike is again back in the shop as of May 3rd. The chain been skipping as said before. Found out the rear cassette or caset is not matching up with the new chain. The set is woren out. So that also has to be replaced. Will not get the bike back to sometime May 7th.
Mike says . . . I will do my best with the bike tour. Pray I could make it to the finish of the tour. I know I will ache thru out the tour. Could struggle at the end of both days.
He hopes to reach the amount he raised in 2012. We all shall see what happens.

New Jersey Country Bike Ride"
September 25, 2012 . . . Mike has done it. He has not done this tour since September of 2010. When his mother was alive. His buddy Scott the one that drove Mike to and from the tour this time. Felt weird that his mother is not around. But he knows his mother is with him in spirit and in his heart.
Mike rode in the 25th Anniversary of the "Great New Jersey Country Bike Ride" on September 22nd and 23rd, of 2012. Mike started with this tour back in September of 1990. Skipping 1993, 1994 and 2011. Making this tour Mike's 20th ride in the MS September tour. Mike is proud. Hoping to continue another 20 more years or till his legs falls off.

 Known by many as "Big Mike" for having a big heart or "Bike Mike" for spending so much time on his beloved bike, Dowd has made it his priority to raise funding for MS research year in and year out.

"Three Years on LunarPages.com"
(December 2, 2009) . . . . Bike Mike World has been on the air for 14 years as of July 2009. Has been comfy in a nice warm home (host) on lunarpages.com for three years. Bike Mike World moved into the new home on December 4, 2006. With a lot of room. Mike celebrated by sending a message to a high staff at lunarpages.com. Got a response that says thanks for being with us. We are glad to help BikeMikeWorld stay on the air says lunarpages.com.

Mike has been in the Special Olympic bowling and basketball league for a couple of years now. Mike and his teammate has completed the 2010 season. 2010 is his 6th year in basektball. The team Mike's on has made it to the 2010 State Finals in Wildwood, NJ March 27 and 28, 2010.

"New Site Fixed"
All pages has been updated with better codes by using the CoffeeCup HTML 2008 Editor software. Mike took off all the old HTML codes and put up better codes.
One thing Mike will continue doing is adjust some things along the way to improve the site appearance and easy to get around.
